Evolution Series: Shatter-Proof Faith

Have you ever seen the picture of the monkey that evolves into a man?  When I was in the 10th grade, I remember seeing that picture and feeling intimidated.  I had gone to church and knew that God created the heaven and the earth, but that picture concerned me.  Was it possible for man to have evolved from some lower life form?  It was not until many years later that someone reminded me that the picture that showed the gradual steps of the evolution was simply an artist’s rendition of evolution.  Just that simple piece of information has caused me to rethink just about everything my High School taught me about Biology and Earth Science.  Not only that, but I want everyone to know that God is our Creator and Jesus Christ, His only Son, came to us in human form to bleed and die for our sins.  He rose again for our justification.  This life is not just some random act of accidents, no, the God of the Bible is the designer and though the world may be broken, our faith is shatter proof!  With 8 out of 10 teens leaving church and never intending to return, we must block the exits of the church with TRUTH.

During the month of February, in the Sunday evening services, I want to encourage you to come, bring a friend and take notes as we will be studying this vital subject.  We will approach this subject from the biblical perspective first.  However God clearly left His signature everywhere as we will see in the evidence.

1 Timothy 6:20  “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called.”

Fruitful February

Don’t miss any of the services this month as we enter into Fruitful February.  We are looking for you!  Everyone can participate in this month’s events.  Simply sign in in the foyer under your Sunday School class name.  The class that has the highest percentage increase for the month will receive a special class meal!  Last year, one of the children’s classes won.  They had a great time at Mr. Gatti’s.  This year, help your class to win by being faithful.  Don’t forget to sign in each evening service this month and remember to bring someone with you.  Visitors count as extra points!  Let’s see some fruit this month!

John 15:8  “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”

Sweetheart Banquet With Ed & Sheila Snider

Each year we set a time aside to encourage our couples in a special way.  We know that there are enemies that bombard our homes and marriages on a daily basis.  Though these meeting are not a cure-all, they certainly are a blessing and help.  Ed And Sheila Snider, from Shawnee Baptist Church, have been helping couples for many years with their council and solid Bible messages.  This is a meeting that every married couple should attend.  Even if you are not yet a member of Bible Baptist Church, you are still very welcome!  You may pick up your tickets after any Church service from Mrs. Brenda Gardner until February 5th.  Just a hint to all the married men, this is a great date night!  See you there!

Be Found Faithful in 2012

Just imagine all that could be accomplished if we were simply faithful.  God has called us as stewards to be found faithful.  Our faithfulness should stem from the character of God.  He is faithful and true, therefore those who are His children should strive to be the same.

I have read that somewhere around 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games took place.  One of the Greek’s Olympic games was a race in which the contestants carried torches and the winner was the one that finished with his torch still lit.  The Christian’s desire should be that he will finish his race with his flame still burning strong and our touch still lit!

Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that was considered the Vanity Fair of the world.  From Ephesus, Paul wrote to this church knowing that Corinth displayed sin in the streets as much in broadest daylight as in darkest midnight.  It was no small achievement to live there unspotted by the city’s culture.  God had given them the victory through Christ and they could indeed keep themselves unspotted from the world.

Someone said, “It is not the water outside the ship that sinks it.  It is the water that gets in that sinks the ship.”  Paul was attempting to plug the holes of this ship.  This Church was divided by preference of preachers, the sin of fornication, litigation, marriage, public worship, speaking in tongues, the resurrection and money.  Paul addresses the vital element of the Christian life…faithfulness!  All of the sins mentioned can be eradicated if we simply are found faithful to the Lord.

May we, as God’s children, take seriously the responsibility to be found faithful this year!
