Each year we set a time aside to encourage our couples in a special way. We know that there are enemies that bombard our homes and marriages on a daily basis. Though these meeting are not a cure-all, they certainly are a blessing and help. Ed And Sheila Snider, from Shawnee Baptist Church, have been helping couples for many years with their council and solid Bible messages. This is a meeting that every married couple should attend. Even if you are not yet a member of Bible Baptist Church, you are still very welcome! You may pick up your tickets after any Church service from Mrs. Brenda Gardner until February 5th. Just a hint to all the married men, this is a great date night! See you there!
Be Found Faithful in 2012
Just imagine all that could be accomplished if we were simply faithful. God has called us as stewards to be found faithful. Our faithfulness should stem from the character of God. He is faithful and true, therefore those who are His children should strive to be the same.
I have read that somewhere around 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games took place. One of the Greek’s Olympic games was a race in which the contestants carried torches and the winner was the one that finished with his torch still lit. The Christian’s desire should be that he will finish his race with his flame still burning strong and our touch still lit!
Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that was considered the Vanity Fair of the world. From Ephesus, Paul wrote to this church knowing that Corinth displayed sin in the streets as much in broadest daylight as in darkest midnight. It was no small achievement to live there unspotted by the city’s culture. God had given them the victory through Christ and they could indeed keep themselves unspotted from the world.
Someone said, “It is not the water outside the ship that sinks it. It is the water that gets in that sinks the ship.” Paul was attempting to plug the holes of this ship. This Church was divided by preference of preachers, the sin of fornication, litigation, marriage, public worship, speaking in tongues, the resurrection and money. Paul addresses the vital element of the Christian life…faithfulness! All of the sins mentioned can be eradicated if we simply are found faithful to the Lord.
May we, as God’s children, take seriously the responsibility to be found faithful this year!
Christmas Blessings
There are many blessings during the Christmas season from the Lord. We have seen Christmas programs that encouraged us. We have heard the carols and read the cards that caused us to smile with nostalgia. The greatest blessing is when we see someone trust Christ as Saviour.
It was a delight to participate in the Life Builders Sunday School class Christmas party after the evening service on the 18th. The fellowship was well-pleasing to all that attended. It was a good reminder that Christians can have fun serving and loving the Lord.
This year, at our Children’s Christmas party, on December 23rd we saw 11 precious souls trust Christ as Saviour. That is what makes all the work worth while. Many laboured well into the evening working bus routes, cleaning up and preparing the buildings for church on Sunday. I am grateful to be able to see a group of laborers serving the Lord together for His glory! Merry Christmas to a bunch of hard workers!
Merry Christmas From Pastor Green & Family
This year has been one of challenges and blessings. We have weathered some storms and have enjoyed the sunshine. God has been good to us and all the glory we could ever give belongs to Him! He is our wonderful Saviour.
This time of year is exciting at Bible Baptist Church. It has been good to see folks saved through our visitation ministry as well has our Church services. Just this past week we saw folks walk down the aisle for salvation.
Recently, the Church enjoyed the Hardin Christian Academy Christmas program as well as the Cantata presented by the Adult Choir. Class Christmas parties were enjoyed as well. Let us not forget this coming Sunday, December 25, is a day we recognized that God came to man enshrined in flesh. He is our Saviour. He was not born just to live. He was born to die for our sins.
Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son…”
This Christmas, let’s pray to be more like the Master and give more than wanting to get.
“Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
Do Something For Someone Else This Christmas
Christmas time is often about buying gifts for our family and friends. Let’s face it, we all like to receive gifts as well. But what about the poor and needy? What about the discouraged and down-hearted? What do we do for them? In the Old Testament, the Jews gave to the poor and needy during their times of great jubilation.
Nehemiah 8:10 “Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Esther 9:22 “As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.”
What if this year we thought of others outside our realm of friends and family? What if we helped someone who could never return the favor? That would be different would it not? When our Lord came to this earth to bleed and die for the sins of mankind, He gave of Himself. We could never repay the free gift of eternal salvation He has offered.
2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”
I was thrilled to be a part of the Christmas offering through Bible Baptist Church this year. This year’s offering was used to buy chairs for a brand new church in Honduras. They would never have been able to do this on their own. They are currently meeting under a tent with borrowed chairs. Praise the Lord we were able to help them!
This past week, after the evening service, many of us loaded on a bus and went to see Mrs. McClannahan at the rest home. She is our oldest church member and is still a blessing to so many. We sang Christmas carols and gave her a few gifts. (Big Hershey Bars-her favorite!) I pray that we will continue to think of our Lord and His desire for us to serve others as we continue through this Christmas season.

The Approaching Revolution-Events That Will Change The World Forever!
Times are changing rapidly. Events are unfolding nearly every day that seem to point to cataclysmic change. Financial instability is all around us. Catastrophic events seem to be happening more and more. What will the future hold? What is next for this earth? Who will lead the world through this change? The Bible, the tested and tried book of God, has all the answers. Each Sunday Morning at 11 A.M. during the month of November, these and other important questions will be answered through God’s Word. Make plans to bring someone with you to Bible Baptist Church for each Sunday through November at 11 A.M.
Church Planting In America Missions Conference 2011
This was perhaps the most powerful Missions Conference we have had. The Lord truly blessed by speaking to our hearts through every preacher that came our way. Brother Lonnie Mattingly opened the meeting Sunday, September 18 with two great messages that challenged Bible Baptist Church concerning our personal witnessing and giving to missions. Many of our members participated in some capacity during the week. The preaching was the highlight of the week. The church planters brought powerful messages from God’s Word. The all-american meal was outstanding on Wednesday evening as well. This meeting will live on in the hearts of those who attended for a long time. May we be doers of the Word and not just hearers. It was a blessing to see several of our young people make public they have surrendered their life to full-time Christian service.
My Letter To The News Enterprise Editor Concerning The Oct 4th Vote To Expand Alcohol Sales In Hardin Co
September 27, 2011
Dear Editor,
Recently I have heard people say, “Those who are voting ‘no’ on October 4th are just crazy fanatics.” I submit to you that those who I know that are voting “no” are retired Sergeant Majors, successful business men, business owners, entrepreneurs, teachers, pastors, and law abiding citizens. Those “crazy fanatics” pay their taxes, love their community, and love their country. Those “crazy fanatics” that I know who are voting “no” have their kids involved in the local community through sports and other activities.
I am aware that there are “crazies” on both sides of any issue, however there are many good people that will be voting “no” on October 4th. My wife and I will be two of them. We pay our taxes, obey the law, respect the police, respect our neighbors and honor the soldiers that fight for our freedoms.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 33,808 people died in traffic crashes in 2009 in the United States (latest figures available), including an estimated 10,839 people who died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. Drunk driving fatalities accounted for 32% of all traffic deaths last year, that is, on average someone is killed in an alcohol-impaired driving crash about every 50 minutes in the U.S. (Source: NHTSA/FARS, 2010) (Source: http://www.centurycouncil.org/learn-the-facts/drunk-driving-research)
The population of Radcliff is just over 22,000. The population of Vine Grove is just over 4,500. This is comparable to all of Radcliff and Vine Grove being wiped out by alcohol in one year. Nothing is real to us until it’s personal. It could very well be someone we love whose life is taken as a result of alcohol.
Do not think that Hardin County will be exempt from adding to the deaths and injury count.
The eighteenth century political thinker Edmund Burke was quoted as saying, “All that is necessary for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing.”
In recent days, alcoholism has been considered a “disease.” Why then are we voting to package a “disease” and sell it in stores?
Very Concerned,
Thomas Green
